Artur Aharonyan

Composer, pianist
Born in Yerevan in 1962, Artur is a professor at the Darius Milhaud Conservatory in Paris. He studied piano and composition at the Komitas State Conservatory of Yerevan, in class of Eduard Baghdasaryan and later Tigran Mansurian.
While teaching at the same conservatory and being a member of the Union of Composers of Armenia, he also performed extensively in Armenia, Russia, various European countries, Canada, and the United States.
In 1993, he settled in Paris, and in 1995, he completed his PhD at Sorbonne University’s Musicology Department, with his thesis on “The Piano Works of Komitas”. The following year, he won first prize at the Pierre Lantier International Chamber Music Competition. In 2006, he was recognized as a composer at the Antibes World Festival, and in 2007, he received the Golden Star Halo Award and the Emerald Award from the Southern California Motion Picture Council in Hollywood for his contributions to the entertainment industry and performing arts.
He has recorded numerous CDs as both a pianist and composer. His latest release, featuring Komitas's piano works and produced by Megadisc Classics, received the Vienna Radio Award.
He has collaborated with renowned performers such as Sergey Khachatryan, the Amsterdam Sinfonietta, George Pehlivanian and the National Symphony Orchestra of Paris, the Arpeggio String Quartet, and Marcel’s Brass Quintet. His compositions have been performed on prestigious stages worldwide.
