Sergey Ekimov

Composer, conductor
Sergey Ekimov is a lecturer at the St. Petersburg Conservatory and serves as the dean of the Composition and Conducting faculties. He graduated from the St. Petersburg Conservatory, specializing in choral conducting in class of F. Kozlov and V. Uspensky, while also studying composition with Y. Falik. Since 2004, he has been a member of the Union of Composers of Russia.
From 1993 to 2009, he directed the Youth Chamber Choir of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Society, and from 2000 to 2022, he led the Women's Choir at the N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov Music College. Under his leadership, the ensemble won 19 Grand Prix at international and Russian competitions, participated in prestigious musical projects, recorded several CDs, and toured extensively across Europe.
Since 2005, he has been the artistic director of “The Singing World”, one of the largest international choral festivals. In 2011, he became a teacher at the St. Petersburg Institute of Culture and director of its Concert Choir. In 2020, he was appointed artistic director of the Conservatory Choir, which won First Prize at the All-Russian Choral Festival under his direction.
As a prominent figure in the choral world, Ekimov has served on the jury and expert panels of numerous Russian and international choral competitions. He has conducted leading Russian and international choirs and has composed several choral works and educational materials. His compositions are performed widely in Russia and internationally, in countries such as Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Ukraine, Armenia, Belarus, Poland, Hungary, Austria, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland, China, Taiwan, South Korea, the USA, and Japan.
